| October 24, 2005 | It is stunningly sad to hear that Eric Costello just passed away due to a head injury sustained while skating in the park . Rather than spread rumors, I recommend that you keep an eye on the local papers and check Rich's site for updates: http://www.dislocatedskate.com/costello.html |
| October 19, 2005 | We have a new skate shop in Scotts Valley!!! Check out Dislocated Skate Shop right next to the Scotts Valley Movie Theater. Doc told me that I might be able to gently skate in mid November of this year. I'm eager to get out there again! |
| October 15, 2005 | While visiting the dog park, I notice the skate park is packed with little ids, adults, teens, and moms. Everyone is having a blast, and these folks are NOT skating in the streets. I am SO glad we didn't build a tiny park and push out the kids. What a great feeling to know that all the skaters in Scotts Valley have a rippin' place to skate. Nice job Scotts Valley. |

I read in the banner that there is thought of shutting the park down. Too many police calls, too much graffiti. One alternative offered was to charge admission for non-locals. |
| September 24, 2005 | 7TH ANNUAL TIM BRAUCH MEMORIAL SKATE CONTEST: see pics & results here. |
| June-August, 2005 | In recovery - so send me any events or observations at the park. |
| May, 2005 | My last skate the day before shoulder reconstruction surgery. Natasha showed up and filmed my last sad but gentle session. After surgery, I have to wait six months to one year before skating (or dirt bike riding). It's like a prison sentence. |
| March 2005 | Learning the medium bowl - can keep up enough speed to stay in for two or three cycles and then exit. A big deal for me. However, too many dislocations of the shoulder (exacerbated by dirt bike crashes at Hollister Hills). I'm getting sick of this and have finally decided to get the whole shoulder rebuilt. |
| February 2005 | Heard the park got graffitied while I was gone. Stupid outsiders. Stay home! Got a new helmet for my 40th birthday. Time to break it in. Thanks Fam! |
| January, 2005 | Didn't skate at all. New job, rain. All the excuses. |
| December, 2004 | Getting colder. Spent a morning skating with Rich Harris of dislocated clothing. Rich did a great design for this site that I haven't got off my bum and implemented. |
| November 2004 Notes | A few wet days, but skatable nonetheless. The park drains well. Surprised by the crowd in the afternoons. Lots of folks. The new fence looks good, but I miss the rebound on lost boards. |
| October 2004 Notes | A few kids with Moms in tow this morning. Great to see these little guys learning to carve. SV Police Officer was just leaving after citing a father/son helmetless duo. You'd think a dad would care... Around 11 a bunch of guys showed up and really ripped it up. Nice skating all round. Not crowded at all in the morning. |
| October 2004 Notes | Contest Day. I missed it for a surf contest. Anyone have photos or info on how the contest went? Post a photo here or email admin@svskatepark.com with a word or two about the contest. |
October 2004 Notes |
Headed our to work on carving. Don't forget the contest this weekend! Oh yeah, special thanks to Rich Harris of Dislocated Clothing for donating designs of an upcoming site overhaul. Also, a little plug for Stephany Aguilar for County Supervisor Your vote is your own business,, but remember that Stephany was central to making the skatepark happen. Do skaters vote? |

I keep meeting skaters over 40 years old. The old school lives! The park has four or five skaters around 9AM on school mornings. Some parents bring their 5-7 year olds. Some trash and grit in the bowls. There were two brooms, but someone took 'em apart. Great skate anyway. This park is excellent. |
Friday September 24, 2004 |
Cool morning that got warm fast. Went to the dog park for a drink and got a warm reception (thought they hated skaters). Met a 40 year old skater. Watched Conrad warn a few gear-less skaters that tickets could happen. Sure enough, before 'rad even got back to the office, SVPD showed up, picked a skater w/out gear and cited him. Looks like they're not messing around. But then it's not like they didn't warn us. |

Still crowded, but enough room to have a good skate. Lot's o groms. A few collisions. Saw SV Police show up as I left. Protect yourself and your skatepark. Wear your gear. |
What are the park hours? |
Sunrise to sunset. Respect the park. We want to keep it. |
Will the park have lights? |
No official plans for lights. We are still raising $$ to complete the fence and landscaping.Help out here. |
Wednesday, September 22 |
Pretty crowded, but a fun skate. Hardly anyone wearing protective gear. SV Police issue warnings, but will cite next time. How much is a ticket? |
Grand Opening: Tuesday September 21, 2004 6:00 P.M. |
500 attended. Steve Cabellero shows up. The dust from construction makes the surface slick. |
Seven + years of work, lobbying and fund raising.
|
The generosity of a lot of folks made this happen. 'nough said. |
