A few kids with Moms in tow this morning. Great to see these little guys learning to carve. SV Police Officer was just leaving after citing a father/son helmetless duo. You'd think a dad would care... Around 11 a bunch of guys showed up and really ripped it up. Nice skating all round. Not crowded at all in the morning. |

Contest Day. I missed it for a surf contest. Anyone have photos or info on how the contest went? Post a photo here or email admin@svskatepark.com with a word or two about the contest. |

Headed our to work on carving. Don't forget the contest this weekend! Oh yeah, special thanks to Rich Harris of Dislocated Clothing for donating designs of an upcoming site overhaul.
Also, a little plug for Stephany Aguilar for County Supervisor Your vote is your own business,, but remember that Stephany was central to making the skatepark happen. Do skaters vote? |

I keep meeting skaters over 40 years old. The old school lives! The park has four or five skaters around 9AM on school mornings. Some parents bring their 5-7 year olds. Some trash and grit in the bowls. There were two brooms, but someone took 'em apart. Great skate anyway. This park is excellent. |
Friday September 24 |
Cool morning that got warm fast. Went to the dog park for a drink and got a warm reception (thought they hated skaters). Met a 40 year old skater. Watched Conrad warn a few gear-less skaters that tickets could happen. Sure enough, before 'rad even got back to the office, SVPD showed up, picked a skater w/out gear and cited him. Looks like they're not messing around. But then it's not like they didn't warn us. |

Still crowded, but enough room to have a good skate. Lot's o groms. A few collisions. Saw SV Police show up as I left. Protect yourself and your skatepark. Wear your gear. |
What are the park hours? |
Sunrise to sunset. Respect the park. We want to keep it. |
Will the park have lights? |
No official plans for lights. We are still raising $$ to complete the fence and landscaping. Help out here. |
Wednesday, September 22 |
Pretty crowded, but a fun skate. Hardly anyone wearing protective gear. SV Police issue warnings, but will cite next time. How much is a ticket? |
Grand Opening: Tuesday September 21, 2004 6:00 P.M. |
500 attended. Steve Cabellero shows up. The dust from construction makes the surface slick. |
Seven + years of work, lobbying and fund raising.

The generosity of a lot of folks made this happen. 'nough said. |
